Picking the cherry stems is consumer preference but keeping the stems on can help aid in the cherries lasting longer.

What type of cherries do we provide at Maggiore Ranch?

At Maggiore Ranch, we grow Coral Champagne, Brooks, Lapins, and have a few Rainier trees.

What do you want to look for when picking cherries?

When picking cherries the darker the cherry is the sweeter it will be. If you tend to like more sour cherries the lighter red, the more tart it will be.

What does the paint on the trees mean?

The tree trunks are color coded for their variety. Coral Champagne is blue, Brooks are yellow, and Bings and Lapins will be red.

When does cherry season begin?

Depending on the weather, cherry season normally begins around early to mid may and will last around four to five weeks.

How does the weather affect the cherry season?

Cherries need more than anything the cold in the winter. With fruit trees they need a certain amount of chilling hours to set a crop. Also, rain is important, but can be detrimental when the trees have already set a crop because it can split the cherries.
